Bengal cat breeding: how to get healthy offspring
If the owner of a Bengal cat is not a professional breeder, but plans to have offspring from his cat, it is worth collecting information about the mating in advance. The period of estrus and the subsequent “marriage” of a cat is a difficult and exciting period of their life, but while she is still a kitten, many people don’t think about such a process as mating Bengal cats. A few months of infancy, the minutes are fast, and the moment will come when problems arise, requiring an immediate solution. It is wise to be prepared for them and to cope wisely.

Basic Information on Bengal Cat Mating Readiness
Bengal females do not belong to those that mature early – a cat is considered sexually mature only at the end of the first year of life, although estrus can occur earlier. Cats are ready to continue the genera somewhat earlier than this period – in the 7-9th month the young male for the first time shows an unequivocal interest in the weaker sex. The specific first term, as well as the age of mating during life, depends on the condition of the animal, its individual characteristics. But the common advantage of the breed is extremely rare disturbances in ovulation cycles in cats.
The Bengal cat in its special periods is quite regular – estruses that started in the interval from 7 to 10 months happen 4 times a year. Only in some cases, sexual hunting can occur 5 times, but not more often. But you can bring a cat with a cat only closer to a year old.
A period has several stages:
– proestrus does not last long, up to three days: a Bengal cat becomes noticeably more affectionate, rubs against legs and furniture, rolls on surfaces, sometimes assuming a characteristic pose of readiness, but will not accept a cat at that time;
– estrus, lasting up to 8 days, – a period suitable for conception, the female is ready to admit a partner for mating; the animal loses its appetite, leaves marks everywhere, meows, sometimes screams heart-rendingly, and when stroking it takes its tail aside, presses itself to the floor, steps over with pelvic limbs;
– Metestrus, turning into anestrus – a calm time between periods of love hunting, when mating is impossible.
Cats, unlike dogs, have no discharge in any of the stages. The beginning of the period can be determined by the behavior and by the swollen loop of the female. Occasionally, a small amount of transparent substance can be seen, but spotting is a warning sign.
