Affectionate and gentle beast

There is a misconception that bengals are aggressive. This is actually not the case. The purpose of breeding this breed was to obtain a domestic, affectionate cat with a wild leopard appearance, therefore aggressive individuals were withdrawn from the breeding program. In fact, bengals are affectionate, love people, are very attached to the owner. An exception may be cats that are kept in tight cages and are not able to often communicate with humans. But under such conditions, any animal becomes aggressive.

Bengals are by nature very curious, playful and sociable. Kittens in most cases are mastered in a new house for a maximum of a day or two. The character of a Bengal cat strikingly combines independence and devotion, strength and gentleness. At night, bengals love to sleep next to the owner. However, they try to be with him always and everywhere. They walk “tail”, participating in all household chores, look in all lockers and “put things in order” on all shelves. They are not indifferent to any packages, boxes and everything where you can climb and hide or rustle there. One of our Bengali beauties, Deya, opens drawers, drawers and pulls clothes out onto the floor or puts them in her teeth in a secret, she knows one corner — she likes to play pranks. There are no closed doors or lockers for bengals: watching the owner, they quickly figure out how to discover something. Baby Sonechka quickly realized: in order to open the closed door of the room, you need to jump on the door handle and push it. Since that day, there are no closed doors for her.

When we get home, on the doorstep we are always welcomed by our favorites and we will certainly check all the bags: what interesting things did we bring there? They find toys for themselves: it can be a pen, a pencil, a scrap of paper. Any little thing left on the table will serve as a pretext for the game. Bengals often play with water. They are absolutely not afraid of her, on the contrary, they love her very much. It’s so funny to watch the pet trying to catch the current trickle of water! Naturally, he does not succeed, and he is fond of more and more. We purchased a special drinking fountain for our cats – they are much more interested in drinking some water from it.

All Bengals love to “talk”, they have a great need for communication, whether with a person or other domestic animals. Only they do not meow, like all cats, —they have their own “language” that is not like the others. Rafael, for example, comes to me every night when I work at a computer, and says something, pushing me on the shoulder with a paw, lays on his back so that his tummy is stroked. And Maximus loves to kiss eyelashes. First, he carefully watches the eyelashes, and then comes up and begins to lick them. Here are such gentle creations, these Bengal cats.

Most representatives of this breed do not like to be held in their hands – they do not recognize such familiarity, especially from strangers. Bengal, when he wants, will come by himself and will gently rub and flirt, but only at will.

Bengal needs attention, and the more, the better. It’s good if there is also a cat or dog in the family: bengals easily find a common language with other animals and are able to involve anyone in their games. But only he will always be the leader! In the games of these cats, wild habits are especially noticeable: they imitate hunting, track down, sneak up and quickly attack “prey” … some soft toy.

These cats do not like loneliness, therefore the company is very important for them. It’s interesting, but despite the fact that they don’t like being squeezed in their hands, bengals allow this for little children, moreover, they patiently treat all their pranks. We repeatedly gave our kittens to families with small children, and never one of our pets offended the child.

Bengals are distinguished by a powerful muscular body. Thanks to him, they have great physical strength. When we watch our cats, it seems that in front of us is a leopard or a jaguar in miniature, they move so plastic, and their power and grace are especially noticeable in movement.
