Colors, tabby, hair quality of Bengal cats
Details of all the different colors of bengal wool can be found in special texts, and here is a list of officially recognized in two categories of the pattern – spotted / rosette (Spotted / rosets) and marble (Marbled “marble”):
– brown with all shades and the desired presence of rufisms (rust, redness) – Brown Tabby (brown tabby); in the World Cat Federation (WCF) system, it is the main one, its code is ben n24 (ben n24);
– silver with a distinctive pattern makes up the division Black Silver Tabby, Silver Lynx Point / Marble, Silver Sepia Spotted / Marble, Silver Mink Spotted / Marble;
– blue, recently recognized only by some federations, – Blue Bengals Tabby.
While magnificent, like panthers, black bengals of the melanistic subspecies, several varieties of snow Bengal cats, as well as the recently bred subspecies with long silky hair, remain unrecognized.When exhibiting at exhibitions, participating in other events, such representatives are officially listed as Non Standard.
As for the color of the eyes of bengals, they can be anything – bright and calm green, yellow, bright golden. Snow cats must be blue-eyed.
Special requirements of standards for the exterior of Bengal cats
The documents of the felinological federations for representatives of the Bengal breed spelled out clear requirements regarding the color and type of drawings. So, for silver bengals, the presence of rufisms is unacceptable. In the patterns of spotted, including rosette, kitties, vertical “tiger” lines should not be found (horizontal striping is allowed only on the tail and legs), and round spots cannot be present in the tabby of marble bengals.
No world federation recognizes any mestizos born to Bengal females. Moreover, there is an officially prescribed ban on breeding a Bengal breed with any other registered domestic feline species. To improve the characteristics of the species, crossing is allowed with wild forest ancestors, which widely live in southern Asian countries, the Far East, and the Philippines.
