Features of allergenicity of representatives of the Bengal breed

Despite the established fact that the animal’s hair itself is not perceived with hostility by an allergic person, it is she who transfers the Fel D1 protein. The hairs of cats of Bengal breed are short, but density is more important, that is, the amount of hair, and in Bengals it is thick. The advantage is given to those individuals who do not have an undercoat, as it does not exist in a wild mini-leopard. True, as a result of crossbreeding, most of the descendants of Asian forest cats acquired a dense undercoat – a huge amount of allergen particles is concentrated in it.

The second advantage of Bengal cats is very moult. This significantly reduces the likelihood of developing severe allergies, because in the environment there are not too many proteins that cause trouble.

It is believed that animals with light-colored coat synthesize allergen less, but statistics on this subject do not exist. But the fact that the characteristics of a particular cat influence a high or weak severity of a negative reaction is a proven fact. Some pets actually produce more protein than relatives of the same breed. Often this is due to the health of a Bengal cat. A study on whether there is an allergy to Bengal kittens leads to the following conclusions: babies synthesize protein several times less than adults. Consequently, the risk for the hypersensitive immune system is lower.

Are Bengalis Allergenic

How allergens of bengal cats get to humans
The closest contact occurs when a person takes a Bengal cat in his arms, strokes, plays with him, falling under the influence of a concentrated amount of feline protein.

But not only animal dander is saturated with irritants – they are present in the saliva of a pet. When a cat or cat slightly scratches the owner with a zealously licked paw, even an allergen immediately enters the micro-wound. Swelling, redness of the skin may form at the site of the scratch, an itchy rash or even if there is absolute intolerance, large papules filled with a clear liquid.

No less direct route of allergens to humans through the animal’s pot. Changing the tray filler, an allergic person inhales a large amount of the smallest particles of the pet’s vital activity sprayed in the air. A runny nose occurs immediately, it puts a nose in, and if an allergen gets into your eyes, they watery.

In the problem under consideration, unsterilized males are more dangerous – they produce much more protein. In children, irritation from Bengal cats is no more than generally negative reactions to any domestic cat.
